ACS712 Current Sensor Carrier -5A to +5A
The ACS712T ELC-5B is a magnetic linear current sensor carrier board designed by Allegro. This version is capable of handling a bidirectional current input of up to ±5A. It delivers an analog voltage output of 185 mV/A, maintaining an error rate below 5%.
Key Features
- Bidirectional Input: The sensor is designed for bidirectional input currents ranging from -5 to 5 A. The robust sensor IC can endure up to five times the overcurrent.
- Internal Resistance: The conductive path's internal resistance is typically around 1.2 mΩ.
- Hall Effect Sensor: The use of a Hall effect sensor allows the IC to electrically isolate the current path from the sensor’s electronics, up to 2.1 kV RMS. This feature enables the sensor to be positioned anywhere along the current path and be utilized in applications that require electrical isolation.
- Optional Bandwidth Reduction: By adding a capacitor to the filter pins on the board, the 80 kHz bandwidth can be optionally reduced.
Reliability and Accuracy
The sensor offers high accuracy and reliability. The typical total output error at room temperature, with factory calibration, is 4%. It also provides a very stable output offset voltage and near-zero magnetic hysteresis. The IC sensor can withstand up to five times the overcurrent. It operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
