GY-MAX4466 Electret Microphone Amplifier Module

The GY-MAX4466 Electret Microphone Module is an efficient device that functions within a frequency range spanning from 20Hz to 20kHz. It is equipped with the MAX4466 operational amplifier (OP-amp), which serves to intensify the microphone signal to the preferred level. The module comes with an adjustable resistor located at the rear, which allows the user to set the gain and thereby amplify the input signal by a factor ranging from 25 to 125 times.

Power Source and Operating Voltage

The module is engineered to be compatible with both 5V and 3.3V power sources, and it operates within a voltage range of 2.4V to 5.5V. It is worth noting that using a 3.3V power source in conjunction with Arduino typically results in superior signal quality, as the 5V output from Arduino can be excessively loud.

Output Pin and Voltage

The output pin of the module is designed to drive very small headphones. However, for larger headphones or speakers, an additional amplifier is necessary. The output voltage (Vout) is offset to be half of the input voltage (Vin) in a quiet environment. Depending on the specific application, a decoupler might be required. For utilization with Arduino or similar microcontrollers, no additional signal isolation (decoupler) is needed; the output pin can be connected directly.
