RTC Module I2C DS1307
The I2C RTC DS1307 Real Time Clock (RTC) module, a low-power device, is a fully BCD code clock calendar chip equipped with 56 bytes of nonvolatile RAM. It employs a two-wire bidirectional serial bus to transmit address and data. This module is engineered to monitor seconds, minutes, hours, days of the month, months, and days of the week. It also features automatic adjustment for the varying days in each month and leap year compensation. The clock's operation mode, whether 24-hour or 12-hour, is determined by the AM/PM flag. Furthermore, it has an integrated power sensing circuit with power failure detection and battery switching capabilities.
Key Features of DS1307
- Tracks seconds, minutes, hours, days of the month, months, and days of the week
- Provides leap year compensation up to the year 2100
- Comes with a 56-byte nonvolatile RAM
- Utilizes a two-wire serial interface
- Offers a programmable square wave output
- Includes an automatic power failure detection and switching circuit
- Consumes less than 500nA power in battery backup mode
Module Specifications
- Employs DS1307 I2C Real Time Clock Chip (RTC)
- Features 24C32 32K I2C EEPROM memory
- Uses a CR2032 rechargeable lithium battery with a charging circuit
- Can provide DS1307 timing for 1 year when fully charged
- Has clock pin leads to provide clock signal for microcontroller
- Supports cascading with other I2C devices
- Compact design measuring 27mm x 28mm x 8.4mm
This module addresses the issue of the DS1307's inability to read or write with the backup battery. It incorporates a charging circuit for the CR2032 rechargeable lithium battery. The clock pin is led out to provide a clock signal for the microcontroller, and it is compatible with cascading other I2C devices.
