The 36M270 3-pin PTC thermistor is used in degaussing circuits of CRT TVs and monitors. Its purpose is to remove residual magnetic fields from the screen during startup, preventing color distortion.
It operates based on the Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) principle, where resistance increases as temperature rises. At power-on, it allows a high current flow for demagnetization, then automatically limits the current as it heats up.
