Explore varistors for surge protection, transient voltage suppression and overvoltage protection in electronic and electrical circuits. Find metal oxide varistors (MOVs) in different voltage ratings, disc sizes and energy capacities for power supplies, control circuits, appliances and electronic equipment.
How to choose the right varistor
Choose a varistor according to its maximum continuous operating voltage, varistor voltage, clamping voltage, surge current capability, energy rating and disc size. The selected component should remain inactive during normal operation while limiting transient overvoltage when a surge occurs.
Before ordering, verify whether the varistor is intended for AC or DC applications and compare its electrical ratings with the operating voltage of the circuit. For replacement applications, also check the component diameter, lead spacing and markings to ensure electrical and mechanical compatibility.
